3/4 ton to 6 lug
Posted this is a different view a few weeks ago.
In some swapping a trading I wound up with a front end from under a 1970 3/4 ton with an 8-lu wheel pattern. It is brand new. Down to the controls arms were purchased with ball joints riveted in not bolted. Every part that could be replaced was replaced. Super nice. I have a 1969 1/2 ton with the 6 lug bolt pattern. I would like to bolt the unit it but retain the six lug bolt pattern. I have googled and AI'ed and hit several forums. AI/Co-pilot says H&H makes a bearing to make up the dimension differences between the 1/2 ton hub and the 3/4 ton spindle. H&H says they do not offer such a part. Then wheel adapters are an option. Anyone ever drilled spindles to accept the larger 3/4 ton ball joints? I have taper drilled a ton of Camaro spindles to run Chrysler ball joints on a dirt late modified/clipped car. I'm still using Camaro control arms and spindles just bigger ball joints. And the last option is to rebuild the 1/2 ton unit and miss out on saving some $$$ by using something I already have. Thoughts? Scott |
