Running lights, tail lights, break lights and turn signals not working
Hello everyone,
My tail lights, break lights and turn signals aren’t working. My headlights and front turn signals are working. I’m assuming I have a short somewhere. Just curious if anyone has any ideas where I should start. I have never chased down a short before. I looked at the fix box and the fuses appear to be ok. Thanks for any suggestions. Just "looking" at fuses is a only visual inspection.. You'll need to conduct a continuity check using a meter of some sort, a test light will work in a pinch. Make sure the fuses actually have continuity (not blown) and make good connections with the "clips" in the fuse box. Tail lights and brake (not "break") lights work independently of the ignition switch, while turn signals require the ignition switch to be on, so you MAY be looking at multiple problems. And there's always the possibility of a bunch of burned out and/or badly grounded bulbs. Don't try to get everything working with a single "stroke of the pen".. Pick a circuit, get it working, and then move on to the next one. |

Like mentioned get a wire diagram, and a good prob test light. Since it is all the rear lights, could be the rear wire loom became disconnected at the firewall or underneath. The firewall connection is up and to the right of the gas pedal, accessible from both firewall and under dash side.

90% of all electrical problems are grounding issues.

Posted about this same problem about a month ago after swapping from non tilt to tilt column . Check to see if your emergency flasher switch on the column is sticking/partially stuck in or out . Mine was stuck and the front turn/ park lights would work in conjunction with rear brake lights when brake pedal was pressed . Good advice from lots of folks .
Good luck on all your projects.
