Firewall Insulation/Padding recommendations

This winter, I will start to accumulate interior parts to put my cab back together. I have started to look for carpet, sound deadener, etc as well as the firewall pad. So far I have found a wide range of prices for pads.
Classic Parts 69.95
Classic Industries 49.99
CJ Pony 74.99
CJ Pony 256.99
LMC 72.95
Summitt 68.99
Brothers 38.49
Tucker's Classic 212.00

I didn't check what shipping would be which might even out some of the prices, but it is a huge range of prices.

I also search the forum and read people recommend Repop products but also looks like they only sell to dealers. I would like to buy an American made product if possible.

Looking for a good quality and good fit. Anyone have experiences with the above? Are the $200 that much better?

Re: Firewall Insulation/Padding recommendations

I think I got mine from Classic industries, but I wasn't too picky since I was putting Kilmat and Noico Red on the inside firewall first and then covering that with the rubber type pad. ( I remember the OEM style cardboard ones to be costly and shipping was a big deal on those. ) Ultimately, I'm still happy with the fiberglass insulation backed rubber one which easily shipped rolled up in a tube and did a great job of covering the Noico. I bought the push in retainers from Lowe's because they were better and cheaper too.

Edit: I didn't check, but I bet your 200 dollar ones are the OEM preformed cardboard type.

My current truck. This one was a little tough to do because I already had the AC installed.

Was the rubber cover cut/molded to fit or did you have to do all the cutting and molding to go over the insulation?

If I remember right, it may be three separate pieces; fuse box area, middle and heater area. It is cut to fit and the material is scored so you can pop it out for the holes. It isn't however, molded to fit per se, but it is flexible enough to decently make the contours of the center bulge of the firewall, and has scoring in the appropriate areas so as not to get "bunchy".

It also comes with fiberglass insulation firmly glued to the firewall side and I had no problems with it covering all of my added Noico Red and Kilmat. There was some trimming involved to get a perfect fit since although it is cut to be the same shape as the firewall, it is a bit larger. That part was pretty easily done and I kind of did it here and there as I went along securing it to the firewall. I think I used some of the trimmed pieces to make a tighter fit for the heater opening as it was cut a bit too generously. (See my last pic above)

Thanks for the info. I might look into this option as well. Would also like some input from people that may have used one of the options I listed above to see what the results are.

Re: Firewall Insulation/Padding recommendations

When I installed my firewall pad I wasn't impressed with the plastic push pins that came with it. Instead I used well nuts with a s/s bolt and washer for a cleaner look.
