1987+ 350 with original 1964 3speed?

I want to replace the original inline 6 230CI in my 1964 with a V8.

I have a running 350 TBI engine out of a 1989 Truck currently running a carb. I was reading yesterday about the difference in the crankshaft Internal vs external balance and the difference in bolt pattern for the flywheel/flexplate.

To make my life easier i was planning to keep the 3 on the tree for at least a year or 2 and then switch to an auto

Is it possible to use the original 3 on the tree with that engine or should i be looking for a pre 1986 350?

All you need for the trans install is-
1.Flywheel that matches your crank, so 1 piece seal internal balance.
2.Clutch kit to fit the transmission, guessing stock one for a v8 truck.

Luckily SBC's are the lego of the car world other than the oddball here and there (400 external balance for instance)

otherwise you will obviously need the v8 mounts, manifolds (or headers) and such for the engine swap itself.

Pretty sure you'd just need a flywheel for a one piece main seal that matches your clutch diameter, and everything else should work from the 230. Don't forget a pivot ball for the Z-bar, a V8 engine harness, a fan shroud since the engine/fan will be farther away from the radiator, and V8 trucks had a taller throttle arm on the firewall. The engine mounts are the same and bellhousing pattern are the same. I'm not super familiar with small blocks but I'm fairly sure only the 400 was externally balanced.
