Turn signal question?
Has anyone delt with this problem, everytime I make a left turn my blinker flashes until I hit the brakes, then the blinking gets cancelled out, does anyone know where i can start, to find the problem. I checked all the wiring it looks good and the bulbs are ok? HELP!

 man have not heard that one before ok ....i would start at the blinker switch under the steering wheel... have no clue why they go out when you hit the brake pedal.... unless your head's hitting the steering wheel and making the blinker turn off.....J/K THATS THE SWITCH......are they canceling them self's after the turn is made??? after 30 plus years a lot of crud builds up in there.... keep us posted THE RAGE

99% of the time with DC current, its a bad ground. Look at all your ground connections and clean them too!

I had a problem similar to this. Except it was my brake light on the driver side. It would light up while on the brakes but if I turned the headlights on, I wouldn't have a brake light. It ended up just being a bad ground. I tightened up the 5/16's bolts behind the taillight and I haven't had a problem since.

I agree....bad ground. They will do some werid, werid things....

I would suspect the signal switch if all the grounds and bulbs are good.

Someplace in your truck you have the blinker fluid line crossing under the brake line. You step on the brakes and it stops the blinker fluid from flowing to the turn signals. Sorry man, it's expensive to fix.

T/S SWITCH
HELLO,
I have a 1969 and I had a simalar problem. When I didn't have signals on, the brake lights worked fine. When I had a turn signal on the opposite brake light would go out, so if i was stopping and turning I wouldn't have any brake lights on opposite side, but signal would work fine. I changed the turn signal switch and it fixed the problem. It wasn't even that bad of a job!  I hope this helps! |

I have a similar problem. My left brake light will not work, unless I use the left turn signal and then cancel it. Then it works for a period of time. I haven't determined when the brake light stops working again, but it doesn't last long. The grounds are good, as well as the wiring. I'm thinking it must also be the turn signal switch.

Ive seen bulbs blow and one of the fillaments lands on the others and causes similar problems when stopping.

Having the wrong bulb can also cause crazy things to happen. I had a trcuk that when you stepped on the brakes, the front pariking lights lit up. Turned out that someone had forced the wrong type of bulb into one of the rear lights. More than likely though you have a loose ground somewhere.
