Fitting a floor pan patch panel
So I bought a floor patch pan from AMD, it was their X-Brand patch, bought mostly due to it being advertised as a thicker gauge, and went up the kick panel some. Now after cutting out the old floor, and preparing to fit the new pan, taking measurements using the cab mounting bolt divot in the pan as a reference, I am not thrilled on the fitment of this pan. It is not lost on me that a replacement patch panel may need a little fitting, but the kick up for the toe panel seems way too far back into the cab. Plus the old seem goes straight across in the cab, where this seems to kick back even more into the cab. Is this just the shape of a pan now, or do I need to find a different brand of pan? Is there a pan that you have used that fit better? I'm not a world class metal worker, but this seems way off.. Am I wrong?

Re: Fitting a floor pan patch panel
I used these same patches in 2015. Here’s how made it work.
Unfortunately I don’t seem to have any pictures that show it directly. Basically I cut the panel where it needed to be cut and bent it over to mimic the factory pinch weld seam.

Re: Fitting a floor pan patch panel
The old-style pan was horrible to work with. The new thicker one is better, but the problem I run into is that the area where the kick panel comes over the pan in that channel is too high. This causes a problem when you put on the outer rocker. What I have found is I use this panel first (LMC 38-7904) to fit the floor and kick panel together. Then patch in the new floor piece. It does have a better flange for the toe board to match.

Re: Fitting a floor pan patch panel
So I decided to order a Key Parts pan from Jegs, with the hope that a better brand (?) pan will hopefully fit better. If it is a better fit, I'm going to use a old inner fender as material to make a patch for the kick panel above the seam. Here's to hoping...
