Rochester 2G Carb Air Cleaner Hold Down Bracket?

Has anyone done this repair? Should I do it and what is involved?
While rebuilding my Rochester 2G carb I had the epiphany that there is no air cleaner hold down! Broken right off! Yes I should have known as the air cleaner was just sitting on top (clamped around at the base) but here we are. This kit is available but it looks like I would have to drill holes in the side of the carb and drive a pin through to hold it on.
Looking forward to some experience with this mod- or should I just leave the old one clamped on (Not preferred…and I want a larger air cleaner!)
