I thought it requires fuel injection.

LMC has a kit for $69.95 Maybe some board venders do too. I bought mine from JC Whitney 6yrs ago and it still works like new. Also if you are going to use an alarm system, most of them will operate the locks with their remotes. Then you only need to buy the actuaters. John

You only need the fuel injection if you are going to put in a remote start system. Years ago, you could get a solenoid that would open your throttle a little to keep it running with a carb. Don't know if you can still get the kits or not. If you live where it's warm, then you could do it with a carb. I never used my choke when I had it, and I live in Michigan.
If you are just wanting locks, then you can get them from about any vendor on the board. It's not really hard. The hardest part will be running wires from the door to the cab. There is no tube there. But it can be done. |

I don't think he is talking about remote start. He said KEYLESS ENTRY. They're are some vendors that sale kits for keyless entry.

Looks to me that if it's newly installed that he put it in. Must be nice to have those extra gears. What kind of affect did it have on your gas mileage?

I don't remember, if you'll go look through some older hot rod magos, and maybe a summit, I think you might find one

I was just looking at a company called bulldog sold by summit, and from what I can tell from there wiring diagrams, they sell them for the non-f/i motors

crimestopper offers a keyless entry system, but for an extra 20 bucks, you can get the cs 2000 which offers starter kill and full alarm system, the only thing you would require are door lock actuators and 2 relays

smokey bulldog make junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have installed car stereo since 1986. I strongly reccomend directed electronics products. They make Viper, Phython, Avital, Automate, Your Valet. I had an older guy who bought a bulldog and wanted it installed just for the keyless entry part and it wouldn't work consistantly I called their tech help and they said it was bad so I took it off and installed a dei piece end of problems!

I am lucky because i work for a company that uses the 20/30 amp relays and also the DEI electronic box for one product and we also have another product from which i get my actuators for the doors. I do have to fab a "J" type brace to hold the actuators but i did it on my 71 and it worked great.

a remote starter won't work right on a carburatorated engine because to start one you need to floor the gas pedal to set the choke.[i know he didn't ask about remote starting]

I've done remote start on a carb truck! It has to run well and start easy but a good remote starter reads the tach input!

I got all the stuff to do it but I'm not that far along with the project yet. I got an Avital alarm at Best Buy and will run the auto door locks through it. It will be a fun project.
