starter problems

The starter on my truck is going out. I want to get a new one. I've heard that GM put gear reduction starters on the corvettes and big block applications. I was wondering what application I could use to get one of these starters at a parts house..... meaning, what should I tell the kid at the counter to look up? Any help would be great. Thanks.

My 95 Suburban with a 350 came with one. It is very small in diameter. I put it on my 71.
