Ground strap
Is there supposed to be a ground strap from the bed to the frame?
I am having problems since I removed the bed, and rewired the rear harness. The problem is: once I have the side marker lights grounded, I have power to the bed, when I check with a test light from the frame to the bed. I know that is not right. The harness was suspect #1 and it checked out OK. If I ground the marker light to the frame, it lights up. What would you check?

I would think that the bolts holding the bed to the frame would be a adequate ground. Like he said above. Add one it won't hurt.

I think that I know what happened.
When I re-installed the bed, I put a rubber gasket inbetween the bed and frame to stop the squeeking that was there in the past. The bolts are not tightened to the frame yet so the box isn't really touching the frame and the bolts arent either. I think that I will install one just to be safe. Thanks for the help.

I'm dealing with the same prob. I painted my frame and when I put the bed back on I forgot to clean a spot to bare metal. Now when I hit the brake all the lights come on. Rather than unbolting the frame again I just added a ground strap.

Beds with wooden floors are more likely to have this problem, but there is nothing wrong with adding a ground strap...or two.
I go over board with ground straps and ground wires...but I never have ground problems either. |

Grounding Strap
Grounding problems can be the worst. I've had the same problems in the past. Summit sells these braided grounding straps. They're really cheap (around 5 bucks). And really do the trick.
