Custom Camper emblems question

Anyone know what years "Custom Camper" emblems were on the doors above the door handles? That's how my 72 C20 is.

I just saw the 71 longhorn Camper on ebay which showed "Custom Camper/20" on the fender, just forward of the door.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=5348

I also see "Camper Special" on the board a lot. Is is different?

Any experts on history to help me get up to speed on camper option by year and how Chevy put emblems on for this? Thanks for your answers.

Custom camper is nothing but a few options.
HD springs or overloads, HD shocks, optional tires,a nd a sway bar.
Was the door script only on GMC trucks? I can't think of any chevy trucks with it. (??)

My 72 Chevy C/20 has them on the door. I know for a fact that they are original...

I believe 72 was the only year Chevy put the "custom camper" on the door. The 71 and earlier were on the fender.

My 72 chevy c20 has the original "custom camper" emblems on the doors. I agree that the door mounted emblems seem to be a 72 thing only. Besides the options listed above, the camper options also included: dual batteries and a special camper wiring harness that came through or under the cab into the bed.

1972 Custom Campers only included heavy duty springs, shocks, front stabalizer, emblems. Option Z81. Everything else, including auxilary battery, wiring, etc, was optional. Source: 1972 Chevrolet Price and Data Facts book.

I think if the truck came with another trim level and the custom camper package then the door script was used. The higher trim level would be displayed on the fender badge instead of the custom camper name.

Gee Emm...I was thinking thqat too, but I was just looking at LonghornJeff's option sheet, and it is a CST, but the fenders say Custom Camper.
This is an all original 69 C/20.

My 72 is a Custom Delux with the Custom Camper door script. The truck also has the Highlander option...

Thanks for all the info. When I posted this question at first I knew there was a lot to be learned (by me at least). Any others who know more on this for sure?

When I started searching for the custom camper two door emblem words, they weren't easy to find. I found a few in junkyards over time.
