Generic Ignition Switch question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

This switch is going on another project I'm working on . it has points distributor. Which wires do I hook up to start the vehicle? Do I need a direct hot lead from the batt. to the switch?

Where did you find a switch like that........

Most of the ones I've seen that were universal had screw terminals.........

Switch looks like a replacement switch for a boat ...If brass comstruction; then probably for marine use....

I work on forklifts, and that looks like an ign. switch from a Hyster forklift. Only thing, on a Hyster the center lug is for start, and the top lug is a ground. Check with a fork lift dealer, and they should be able to get you a connecter/plug with a short piece of wire attached to each terminal. Tell them it's for a Hyster "C" series, S40-60XL forklift. I hooked up the wires like described in the above pic and no luck. I think I'll try OhioDan s description and see what happens.

now I have no spark coming from the coil, got juice to it(thru) probably bad coil, unless I'm missing something...?
