What did you get done?

It's time for this weeks episode of "What did you get done". I didn't get anything physical done to any of my truck's. I did reject a quote from the "Tachman" to restore the tach dash I bought. He said it was to nice the refinish, but he would recalibrate my gauges for $350. In his defense that price would include painting the pointers and polishing the lens

The rest of the weekend was spent going to my daughters volleyball tournament and basketball game Friday and Saturday Today I borrowed a 40' ladder from my neighbor and finished taking my X-mas lights down, and pruned some trees.

Got my wife's front brakes replaced on her SUV. Other than that, nothing really. It was raining all day Saturday.

Ken, around here we call that 40' foot ladder a "big ass ladder".

Pulled my tach out to see if the bounce was a loose wire.....well it wasn't. Not sure what it can be now. Hit a little more mud on the 4-wheeler. Wired up a CD player for the wife's car only to find out that it did not work. Drank a few beers. Bout it. oh yeah and pressure washed the house to clean it up...it's for sale. here's a link if anybody's interested.

I bought a 99 Tahoe. ANd I got the bed painted. I still need to bleed the brakes, put the bed on and get it lined, and put the grille in. I am on the downhill slide. I will get some pics when the bed is on.

Posting for my son
He purchased new door panels form the chevy dealership, painted and installed with new billet metal on door panels and dash.
Installed a new power window motor. His grandfather is helping him right now with a center consle for his shifter and rewiring power windows to center console.

btw how do you get the old mounting piece for the center mirror off the windshield, he has a new billet mirror he wants to install and cannot get the old one off?

Up here in Canada it was -40 degrees and damn cold. I got out to the garage and once there decided to put on a little fire and try to clean up abit. Cleaned up some pars from the resto project, 1980 GMC Short Box Step Side, of my son's, who is away at University. Cleaned the window regulaters and lubed them up, brought the gage clusters in hoping the printed circuits did not break in the cold. Looked at the cab and decided it was too cold to do any sanding, let the fire go out and came in enjoyed the forum. Oh yeah, got some of my paying jobs done as well.

Painted my fuel tanks and brackets w/ "Tank Tone" from the Eastwood Company. I also purchased new GM sending units, fuel pumps, strainers, and dash mounted switch.

Earlier this week, I trashed everything but the bench seat and dash pad from my interior.

I got tired of going out to the garage & just looking at my truck while I smoke cigarettes. Friday night I had my neighbor come over & help me lift the box off . Saturday night I installed the flip kit that I bought from 1FaastC10 & removed one of the leaf springs & the overload while I was at it. Today I removed the e-brake cables (I hate 'em) & started grinding off the rivets holding the stopper brackets over the rearend. I also tore the cover off of the rearend to see why the right axle was coming out whenever Id roll the truck around. Its always fun getting a donor frame & finding out later what's all messed up on it. It seems the guy tore the rearend apart & robbed one of the axles & left me a nice bearing galled one in trade. At least all of the spiders & C clips were laying in the bottom so I reassembled it with the bad axle for now. Now its on to the front YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...corn

I got my truck licensed! Which is a big feat for me.

I got the truck in July, not running. By October, it was running, but wouldn't pass nor fail emissions (they refused to fail me because my CO2 was too low, which I thought was due to an exhaust leak).

Anyway, 4 emission inspections later, it is 2004, which means I can't get a 2 year license, only a 1 year license. Which means I will have to go back next January.

Had I failed Dec. 31, spent $200 on a cat. converter, and got a waiver, I would have been good until Dec. 05.

Now that it is Jan. 04 (and since my truck is an odd year (85)), I can only get a 1 year.

Anyway, sorry if this is confusing. I found a loophole. Because it is now an even year and my truck is an odd year, and it is a new purchase for me requiring new plates....

I got licensed without any safety or emissions inspection (for a year). WOOOHOOO

Oh yeah, I got my daily driver inspected and licensed.

Not this weekend, but this past thursday:

1a)Put in a new "virgin" dash bezel (i.e. Uncut)
1b)Installed a dummy am/fm stereo. Just for looks, hopefully to fool any potential stereo theives.

Put a new overflow jug in, swapped out all the setbelts and harnesses on the 82. Threw out the 38 diet coke bottles in the bed and put the spare back under the bed again.
