Rear end problems? yikes

I have a popping coming from the rear end - it is a posi rear end in my 72 swb - just bought the truck and it appears to be the one that came in it - it says this is what it is in the glove box lid - i haven't checked the gears - the popping only occurs when i turn - it is like the axle stops turning when i turn a curve - it pops loud and jumps - but again only when i turn - this confuses me - i know nothing about rear ends so can someone help please? Brent

Check/change the fluid before you tear it down. If the fluid gets too old or wrong type put in, the clutches won,t release as they should. It would probably feel like you are running over a brick with whichever tire is on the inside of a hard slow turn. good luck

Yea, change the gear oil first & make sure you use posi lube. GM also makes an additive for posi units that comes in a little bottle & I think its made of whale blubber if I remember right, quiets them right down...corn
