Upper control arm bushings

I have a upper control arm bushing that is bad. Is it possible to take it out without taking the control arm off. It is starting to make noise. Im just trying to do a quick fix until I can finish buying all of the stuff for a complete front end rebuild. Maybe 2 months at the most. Hoping the control arm is okay.

I don't think so. It is not that hard to do upper control arms though. Jack the truck up and put on stands. Remove the wheel. Place floor jack under the spring tower and take up the slack in the spring. You can then remove the nuts holding the upper control arm in place. Then you can turn the control out and replace the bushings.
Good luck.

You may be able to remove only the upper control arm shaft and bushings without splitting the upper ball joint. Support the front crossmember with jackstands, remove wheel, and then use a floor jack or bottle jack under lower control arm to hold the spring in place. Remove Bushings and then nuts holding UCA cross-shaft to frame. Remove and tape together and label caster/camber shims for reinstallatin in original positions. Observe torque specs for installation of new bushings, as it is easy to strip the threaded holes in the UCA. Best of luck.
