speedometers

i was wondering if different speedometers equal different engine or truck performance, like in my 79 chevy stepside the speedometer goes to 100 mph and plus but reads up to 100. but on many trucks like mine of this year range they go up to 85. i didnt know if this ment anything about the truck. any info let me know.

Mine goes up to 85 mph and can easily peg it, I put a 100 in and pegged it too, so what can you do, lol

Nope. 73-80= 100mph speedo 81-87= 85mph speedo

BTW, the speedos can be swapped with little effort. Just pop the new one in, no speedo gear in the tranny swapping nessesary.

Welcome to the board Wooley5o, mine has the 85, and I have no problem pegging it.
