hows everyone doing

on the tilt colloms is there anyway to tighten up the play in them or would i have to get a new one.
i dont think there is suppose to be any play in the but correct me if i am wrong and send me in the right direction

billy give us a little more information to go by. Year of vehicle, etc, and maybe a little more accurate description of the problem. There are several board members here (including my self) that have fixed the dreaded loose GM tilt column syndrome, and on a scale of 1-10, the job is about a 6, but the happiness factor in the end is off the charts

In my opinion its easy to fix than swapping columns (especially if you've done it once already and know how to get in there)...

There are a couple of special tools you will need but nothing expensive.. if you are interested we would be glad to tell you whats involved. The gist of it, is that there are 4 bolts that come loose in the very core of the tilt mechanism. And yes, they just have to be tightened- but getting to the bolts is what makes it a somewhat tough job.

ok
it is a 78 gmc
and the problem is just that i can push the stering wheel up when i think it is spose to be stationary.
when i drive the truck the loose problem turns the signal lights on and then also dont turn of after turning if they are suppose to.

i think ill dive right in and see what happens.
hopefully i dont get in over my head but it looks like it will be pretty straight forward from the info and pics on tthe sites.
