Adding power brakes?
What would be needed to add a power brakes to a '69 C-10 with manual drum brakes? The brakes are in good condition otherwise. Approximately what would the parts cost (new)?
Thank you. |

You need a Power Brake booster. You might think of buying a Power/Disc kit from GMC Pauls or one of the other vendors. Comes with everything needed to do the swap. Ebay is another source for finding a booster.

OK, so if I read GMC Pauls catalog right I would need a kit that includes: power booster, & dual valve master cylinder, mounting brackets and brake pedal to booster push rod for around $250.00, right?

Yes. I would get the kit with the 9" booster, believe it's $269.00. Not sure if you are going to need the porportioning valve as well. Call or email Les and he will set you up:

Just to upgrade with power and not disc brakes you just need the booster and master cylinder, you can use your existing prop valve. Cost me $20 or $30 from a board member. Works pretty good until I scrape up the dough to go disc.

Get the power booster if you can afford to do so. You won't be sorry.

I did mine for $50. I bought the bracket and the booster from
a member, and used the same proportioning valve. It is a worthy upgrade!

I have bought many things from GMC Pauls. They are great to deal with and very helpful. Even on a return they will work with you. Nothing but stars for GMC Pauls. Ask for Les.
