Arrow How many of you guys have.....

An upgraded alternator? I have an Optima "Yellow Top" and was thinking about upgrading my alternator too. Been looking at chrome Powermaster units but I'm not sure what to order. How many amps would you recommend (140+)? No stereo system right now but I have two Viar 400 compressors. Thanks.

I have a chrome Summit 100amp alternator, one wire hookup... I have heard good things about Powermaster though, and with two compressors and a possible stereo system in the future it would probably be better to go with higher amps.

I don't have a stereo near anything to need a alternator like I have (120 amp) but I have electric fans and when they kick on the alternator does it's job and don't even notice it. I would get at least a 120amp.

I installed the Powermaster chrome 140amp alt. Works great and only 1 wire install. I followed the directions on Swerve's site to remove the other wires to clean up the install.

yeah, I'm going to have to uprade my power sources also. My stereo pull my amperage down so bad, that my headlights flash on and off. I think I should fix it before something blows up.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Future plans include a stereo system and I already have an electric fan.

Summit Racing has them for $200.

I have been looking into getting a powermaster.

I sent some emails back and forth with a guy.

Check this out:

Powermaster has a 140 amp direct replacement alternator for this application, #47294, price $161.95

80 Amps at 800 engine rpms.
