A float for the gas tank sending unit? I need one for my blazer tank in my truck. It seems I have a pinhole and no-one seems to know where to get one. Called all the major parts stores including chevy. Everyone says I have to buy the whole assembly. Sounds like BS to me. If anyone knows where to get one, or has one they don't need please let me know! Thanks!

i have heard of people making one out of cork or material like that that will float

He's running a blazer thank I believe. 175 bucks through GM. I may have a old sending unit. Will look later.

If you can drain the float you have now, you can seal it up and reuse it.

DON"T put a torch to it!! Use one of those liquid metal fillers.

Thanks for the replies, Mudder67,if you get a chance to look, I would appreciate it. I only need the float. I tried to find the hole in the float, but I can't get any air bubbles when I submerse it in water. I thought bout drilling a small hole, drainig it then using JB weld, but I'm concerned it might make the float heavier, and I don't know how well jb weld holds up to being submerged in gasoline.

That's what I did with mine. Drained it completely and then soldered the hole. Good as new.

FRENCHBLUE72, problem with the new ones, is they are known for leaking and filling up with fuel.
Granted, I have not done it, but I know I have heard quite a few ppl say it over the years on here.

We have complete new sending units for 45.00 or brass floats for 5.00.

No, unfortunately mine is the brass float. But thanks for checking on it for me.

I called The truck shop and this is what they told me, it's kinda odd:
I can send the whole sending unit back, and they will replace it (which means I can't drive the truck)
I can buy a new float (also 5.00), but they have a minimum phone order of 25.00. And they charge 8.00 shipping.
They can't send me a new float if I fax them a copy of my reciept for the tank and sending unit.

I liked them in the past, but they are seeming a little non user friendly nowadays.
Mothertruckers I am going to PM you with some questions.
