FS 71 4WD Suburban/ 4WD parts truck

Well I have come to a crossroads and I need to sell my 71 4WD Suburban and 72 parts truck.

The Sub started life as at 1/2 ton and the truck as a 3/4 ton. I have switched the 3/4 ton running gear to the Sub and replaced the 307 with the 350 from the truck. The running gear and engine have less than 70,000 miles. Both trucks are 4 speeds.

The suburban will need some work around the rockers, tail lights, and rear rain gutters. The passanger doors and barn doors are in good shape. I have all new window rubber and brake rotors. I also have spare trans and transfer cases that need to go too. Too much to list here. If you had an extra engine you would have everything you needed to put together two vehicles.

The Sub is NH inspected and is driven every weekend.

I would like to see someone from the board take the trucks w/ parts and continue to fix them up.

Any idea what they are worth? I would like to sell the whole package.

I tried to add some pics but the files are too big. If anyone is interested I can e-mail them.

I wouldn't mind seeing pics. As far as the value goes, I 'm not sure. It depends on the condition, how much work you put into it, and how desirable the model is. I would throw a ballpark figure out there as to what you want for it. If anybody is interested in it they will contact you and you can come to an agreement with somebody.

Parts

Bob,

I'm not in the market for a sub, but I would be interested in seeing what you have for parts. I have a 72 4x4 that I'm planning on doing a complete frame off resto on. For the most part I would be looking for body parts in very good to excellent shape. Cab, doors, fenders inner & outer, fleetside/tailgate.

I also live in NH.
Let me know what youv'e got.
Gary

Custom/10 Iwould like to sell the whole lot and not part it out. I may be willing to split the trucks and their pieces and sell it in two lots.

vtblazer, Where in VT are you? I'm in Lebanon NH on the VT border. Should be a quick trip for you.

I have talked to several people and $2500.00 sounds like a fair price for the whole lot.

Let me know what you think. Maybe we could work a deal around your Blazer!

olblue60,

I would like to sell the whole lot but I may sell just the Suburban by itself. I liked the idea of having parts around incase I needed them. Just something to think about! Let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks!

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. I can understand what you are saying. Having the convience of alot of parts is always a good thing.Unfortunatly for me, I live in a residential area where it isnt a good place to have parts cars sitting. Generally you have to get what you want from the vehicle and move the rest on, or the City will send you a letter and tell you to do so.Also moving all that stuff this far would be quite expensive. I hope you find the kind of buyer that you are looking for. Wish that I had the space for it all.

Let me know the outcome of VTblazer's look. If he doesn't take it I might be interested. It is a 2 trip haul if you don't mind it sitting around for awhile.

Good morning all. vtblazer grabed the truck body and a gentleman from Mass says he wants the truck frame. Not sure how serious the guy from Mass is. I will more than likely hang onto the frame for a future project (allways need one of those!).

It was a pleasure to work with vtblazer. He is a great guy and is really into these trucks! Infact he talked me into keeping the old Sub around. Looks like she's off the market! I even got some new rims for her yesterday from Pilgrim. (another great guy to work with!)

Vtblazer and I were talking and we may try to get a group together this summer for a weekend. Do some trail riding, swap some stories and parts, and generaly hang out. Anyone interested let me know. I will make a seperate post with more details down the road.

Thanks to everyone who resonded and take care.

Bob

Thumbs up Meeting other members

Thanks Bob, ditto.
It's always good to meet other members but when thing's work out for the benefit of all...life is good and our trucks reap the benefit's!
Thanks to Bob my "basket case" blazer has a new lease on life. Again, thank you and good to know ya!
I gotta tell everybody...talking Bob into keeping his awesome burb was no real challenge, these trucks are in his blood

Bob,
As much as I wanted to see Kurt get the burb i'm happy that you decided to keep it. You're never really sure if you want to sell something or not until you've sold it. That's when you start having regrets.

Enjoy that burb Bob. There aren't too many of those around these parts.

Kurt, you are a better man than me. I would have been so excited about getting a burb that I would have just paid and ran. Well, maybe I wouldn't have under certain circumstances. I'd hate to see somebody part with something that they really didn't want to lose. I hate seeing some of these posts where people have to sell their trucks because they lost their jobs, or are getting a divorce or something.

It looks like both of you guys benefitted from this though. Good job and what's this I hear about an all New England get together.

No problem just didn't want to see it parted out if it is running. I told my son what you were getting rid of and he wanted the truck and I would keep the suburban. I had wanted 4wd but guess I will get the C20 down the street I'm thinking RAM JET.
Keep good care of the blue beast as they are disapearing fast.
