WTB: 350 engine mounts (pic)

Hi guys,

I want to buy V8 engine mounts (colored in orange). I don't need the towers. Let me know how much.

I've never seen ones like that. Mine had just the rubber mount bolted to the block and then had a bolt going to the frame bracket.

I was thinking they maybe were 6 cylinder mounts. I have never seen 6 cylinder mounts up close though. from the angle it looks like it would almost mount vertically on the block, which would make sense with a 6. Maybe I'm wrong. I don't know.

Jay,

Maybe you want the clamshells for the 72 bigblock style mounts? Just a guess. Would like some insight from the guys who know more.

The towers are not the same. The motor mount and top bracket look the same.

Jay, How about some help here. Where did you get that one? Was it on your truck? Do you have a pic of it on the truck. Is your truck a 4X4? I think we will need more info, so we can find one for you.

I just looked at your web page and those are 6 cylinder mounts. You don't need that bracket for a V8. Everyone go to his site, you'll see pics of the engine with that mount on it. It's a 6. I think we have finally figured out the mystery. Buy a V8 rubber mount, and use your 6 cylinder frame brackets. You'll be all set.

I'm sorry guys, that pic that I posted is what I have now. I thought I would need a V8 set to mount the LT1. (I don't have a V8 truck around here so I can't compare...that's why I'm on this board...)

So I can just mount it to the rubber mounts? I'll go and see if it matches and report back.

Jay

I'm back....

well whadaya know...the holes on the rubber cushion matches perfectly to the holes on the LT1. Is that how the factory did it?

Thanks guys for helping a fellow member out here.

I'm an educated fool,
Jay

thanks rage'n, I'll see how the rubber mounts go. Does anyone know if that's how the stock 350 is mounted?

Jay

Yes the stock 350 was mounted using the rubber mounts. The clams were only used from 72-up. My 69 olny had the rubber mounts, and it was fine. They changed because it was safer to have the clams, the engine wouldn't come off even if the rubber mount went bad. You would need the 72 style mounts in order to run clams. They are around $75 - $100 for the frame mounts only. I would stick with what you have and just use the rubber mounts. Good luck.

It's in...thanks for everyone's help. 1 bolt on the driver side didn't have a hole to go in, so I just had 2 bolts.

6 cyl towers will work but in most cases you will need a longer drive shaft and move the trans crossmember forward and drill the hole in the crossmember below the motor OR get the correct sm block towers. Check your dist-firewall distance and fan-radiator distance for problems. If your 6cyl was a 292 i will trade you a set of clean sm block towers for them.
