Well I've posted a few posts here for odds and ends quistions, also read quite a bit on here, awesome source for information...

I'm 17 live in DFW, Texas.. I bought my 1968 Chevy SWB from my dad about 1 week ago.. He only had it about 1 month.. He also got a 1968 Chevy Flareside.. The white truck here is mine, it only cost $2500 plus my dad spent $200 on two things so it cost me $2700, I'll post pics of his truck when I get some.

Within 1 1/2 years I want to Rebuild Tranny / Engine, All new interior, custom dash/console, rims, system, powder coat frame, new paint either metallic blue or copperhead like off tv show, disc brakes, ac kit that hides inside cab and about $15,000 later have one hell of a truck.

thx yellow custom, were about to rebuild tranny b/c its having problems but my dad manages a tranny shop so that wont be to bad and the engine appears to be running good though

my first 70 swb i got at 17 and in no time at all it was backwards in a ditch with the passenger side wiped out sad to say it was never the same

three years later it was a 4x4 with 44's and BBC and i could not drive it on the road

Do you guys think it could be attainable to rebuild a solid 350 block yourself for less than $1500 and with 400-450 horses

Welcome to the best source on the web for 67 - 72 info. Take a look around on some of the other pages too if you haven't already...some good jokes and off topic info on the gen discusion board, a political board if you are into that jive,a nd parts galore on the parts board.
Looks liek a very nice rig. Hope you realize what you have there. Come up north and look at our junk and you will really apreciate the lack of rust on your truck.

you are 17 i would keep the truck driving until you get out of school trust me i am going down that right now, i dont even have enough money to take my girl on a date even for special occasions, which has proven to be pretty creative, just drive it and add what you need to make it confortable and reliable cause it is already a Bad A$$ truck as it is,

KrazyTexan, I don't plan to do anything drastic on it but get it reliable for now, as for the money right now I'm working on starting up a landscape business, my goal for the first year is to gross 40-50k and hopefully I reach that goal, I'll then re-invest the money next year while going to a community college living at home and expand from there..

great dreams there. I am also a 17 yr old in DFW. Garland Actually. I had plans to keep mine driveable...haha....that plans a long time gone, my truck is completely dissassembled and getting ready for paint and such. Landscaping is a great idea. But you will not gross 40-50k in your first year. I've been doing it for 5years, no expert but in order to make that kind of money you would have tomow 58 yards a week. Which is close to impossible in you're first year. I'm up to about 25 a week. Hopeful to expand to 40 a week this year. With some advertising. But here's a word of advice. Don't start out with an expensive mower and such. They are also expensive to repair...haha. let me know if you have any questions. my dad has also been in the landcare industry for 25 yrs.

if i came across harsh there, sorry. Mowing is great and it's great money. Start at like 10 or so yds a week that'll bring in a quick 230 bucks profit and that's good for a saturday mornings work and then you don't get burnt out on it either. kinda like our trucks, take it slow and keep patience

Chevy guy : I understand where you're coming from and I would need prlly 50 cutomers maybe a little less. I'm going to offer year around clean ups, aeration, etc. etc... I'm also going to be going for atleast $30 a cut min. Last year I mowed 15-20 yards and I was pleased with the money yet didn't realize how "scrubbish" I was charging $20 average.. This year I'm cleaning up my act and going to be legit.. Pay taxes, be insured.. I've also paid someone to design me a Logo, Business Cards, Letterhead and then I had someone else design me some sweet Door Hangers... If you're interested in a link to there just say sometin ...
