Carb cleaner for rebuild?
What do you guys use to clean the carb out for rebuild?
I have my rebuild kit and have taken everything off the carb, but now I'm stuck as to how to clean the thing so it is brand new! I guess I'll need compressed air as well to blow out the small holes?? Any thoughts??

I use the Berryman's B-9 (I think) in the gallon can with the parts basket inside. If I remember correctly, the quadrajet will not fit inside the can, so you have to soak one end of the body and then turn it and soak the other. Then blow it out with compressed air (wear goggles) and do "spot cleaning" with B-12 or lacquer thinner.
That works pretty well for me. Good Luck!

I went to a restaurant store and got one of those metal food pans deep and wide enough to hold everything. Then I got one the exact same size that was perforated. Once everything is stripped down (and you've removed all of the plastic and rubber parts) I use a gallon of carb parts cleaner you get from NAPA. Sometimes it requires two cans because the pan is larger.
Then I let it soak for 24 hours. Then I scrub them with a light metal brush. I use NAPA brake cleaner, scotch brite, and compressed air to finish them off before I start assembling everything. Works great.

So drown it in a pool of cleaner for 24 hours in a big enough pan!
Then spot clean and blow out with air! Wear safty glasses and gloves. Any thing I missed? Thanks a million you guys are the best!

Make sure you wear disposeable clothing and be prepared to wear the smell for about 3 days. That stuff (Berrymans B-12 in the gallon can) is nasty.

Most of the time unless there ungodly nasty inside you can get away with just aresol carb cleaner.

I also agree with everything everyone else said. One thing that I use to make it easier for soaking the body is a ammo box. If you live around any bases or have any surplus stores around you can get them real cheap. Occasionally you'll get one that will leak but a quick weld or some JB Weld will make it all good. Plus you got a lid to keep the fumes down.
