Can any one recomend an engine shop? I am planning on getting one from http://www.blainesmotorsupply.com/ch...ne_results.asp It's listed as Motor Part B3826 Price is 340.00 unless persuaded otherwise.

I already have intake,carb, New/rebuilt 350 heads

If some of you remember my 307 punched out to 327 burped and is broke. I did it hauling 18 6ft x 8ft fence panels plus 19 80lb cement bags.

These guys are really good to work with...I don't know if it is exactly what you are looking for but you can give them a call..thier website is not updated but you can get a few prices

I've put in a bunch of engines from City Motor Supply in Dallas. They seem to be about the best rebuilder in the area. They use only name brand parts and prices are very good.

I used to run a shop affiliated with Dallas Export Sales, and I wouldn't use anything that came out of that shop if it was given to me.

You get what you pay for of course, but I think for the low dollar rebuilders Blaines is OK.

That was another place I was looking at. They have prices comparable to Blaines.

Do I have to have a core to return? Can't I just buy an engine outright? What is the going rate for a 350 shortblock?

Most places will either want a core back or they will ask you to pay a core price.

One thing that won me over on City Motors was I put a 390 Ford engine in my dad's truck once. He didn't have much money, so we went through City Motors. They denied my core refund because they said my block was cracked. I told them it was not, becasue that engine had been running in my dad's truck since new with no problems. They took me out into the shop and showed me the crack they had found using dye penetrant. It was definitely my old engine and it was definitely cracked. I was pretty speachless that a budget rebuilder checked every block for cracks. That's pretty decent compared to most cheap rebuilders.

There's nothing wrong with Dallas Export Sales aka www.strokermotor.com
I've done business with Dick for years. Good guy, quality products at good prices. My 443hp 383 he put together 3 years ago is proof of that.

I agree. City Motor is a great shop and not just because I have a buddy that works there

Thanks guys. I have a 307 and I think City Motors won't take 307s. I'll just have to give them a call and see what I can get.

We used City Motors for quite a few years. I only had one bad motor out of about 50 that we installed. City Motors exchanged it and paid us for our labor and travel time. Excellant people to do business with. I have never used a Blaines but lots in my area do. They use them in IMCA modifieds as a claimer motor. They seem to hold up real well also. If Sun is still in business they also have a god product at a good price.
