Post door skin removal

I need to remove my door skin. The exterior door handle does not work. neither does the exterior locking mechanism. both of the work from the inside. Will it snap off? Is there any technique? I really don't want to break it. Also, My door slants about a 1/4 inch. Is there a fix for this. I'm not sure, but it may be caused by the spring (and bolt holding it) that keeps tension on the door to prevent it from swinging freely having broken off.

by the way, i have manual windows and door locks

THanks a lot

I've replaced the outer door handle on my '89 S-15 but not the lock. The handle was pretty easy. Remove the inner door panel to access the linkage and nuts holding the handle on. You will probably need to buy new fasteners for the inner door panel since they do not snap in and out easily. With the arm rest off the panel will come off bottom edge first then slide up to unclip from top of panel. The inner window felt should come off with it. There is a plastic connector through the handle that holds the linkage to the handle. Push the clips off the linkage and leave it attached to the handle. With the linkage disonnected the two nuts from the posts on the handle trying not to drop them into the door (they can be fished out if you do). With the nuts off the handle will slide up and off from the outside. As far as the slant, check the hinge pins and bushings...
