PTOs

Who has a PTO on their truck? Tranny mounted or Transfer case? Is it driving a pump for a lift cylinder or winch?

my 72 tow truck has a pto on the tranny driving the holmes winch.

I also have a pto that is transfer case mounted off of a NP 205 that was driving a front bumper winch off a newer truck , about 77 era.

Have seen pumps mounted directly to the trannys also to operate lifts on grain boxes on these trucks in the 1 ton series.
Or they can be pto's to pumps mouted in resevoir tanks further back of the cab.

I have what I believe is a PTO output on my Rockwell transfer case in my 69 3/4 ton. I has a cover over it, and I have never taken it off to check it out.

Chelsea I believe...havent looked them all in a while.
The dealer data books list pto options and different types and suppliers that were available in those years.
The numbers stamped on PTO's tags do mean some info if you know how to decode them. I was at a farm equipment company and the guys there gave me a lesson or two back when I was figuring out which ones would work for what application I was planning on.
I still have an extra 8000lbs Braden winch and the Chelsea pto I took off a 70 flat bed once for sale if someone can afford the shipping rate and my cost of course.
