A Floor Shift Tilt - NFS !
Finally have my floor shift tilt for my 71 4x4!!! It started out in life as a '77 van tilt for an automatic. Now has new bearings all around, new turn signal switch with correct electrical connector, shortened shaft to correct truck length and a new coat of paint. No auto shift lever on the column bowl, shaved and filled. No indicator, shaved and filled. Correct tilt and turn signal levers with chrome flasher button. Looks great, can't tell it has been re-worked for a floor shift application. Can't wait to get it installed. Then my truck will have the BIG Three T's --- TILT, TACH, and TOW HOOKS !!! Many, many thanks to a fellow board member !!!

You did a great job! I ended up getting mine from the truck shop. Looks just like the one I purchased. For some reason the floor tilt tilts are hard to come by.

Looks great! I'm behind on mine, thought I'd be done by now.
Did you use bondo to fill after you shaved - Any tips? I'm not too eager to do that to mine, the metal looks pretty thin.

Thanks for the comments on the shaft but I can not take credit for the work on it. It was modified by a fellow board member who done a really nice job. The shaft was cut and welded. The column bowl was ground down and then filled using a piece of brass shim stock and bondo. Really a nice piece of work. Very much appreciate his efforts. Floor shift tilts are hard to come by and quite pricey. When I get this installed I will post some more pics.

Sorry but part of the requirements of getting the column rebuilt was to agree not to divulge the identity of the the person performing the work. He does not want to be in-undated with requests for a column rebuild. I agreed to this request and can not disclose his identity. Not trying to be a smarta** about this but after giving my word I will not break it. Again, sorry for not telling but I gave my word. Really value his effort and friendship even if it is over the 'net and not face to face. Hope everyone understands.

I didn't do any of the work re-building the van tilt to a floor shift conversion so can not really answer as to the correctness of the wire cover. The one that came with the column is the one that was used. It is on the underneath side and most everyone who rides in my truck is not really into the correctness of such parts. The wife just likes the fact the truck is no longer " a rust bucket with dents in the fenders" Since the tilt column I have I know to be a converted van tilt the correctness is not an issure to me. Just happy to have a tilt finally with my floor shift trans.
