bought a gas milage car , or had one gave to me anyways

just thought id share my days activities with yall , had my ex boss call me up thismorning , he said he had a car for me , i need another like i need a hole in the head,, he told me his wife totalled it yesturday and it quit running ,, so im thinking trashed , well it was a 97 fo#d contour ,,these and most newer cars have an inertia switch that kills the fuel pump when in a crash , it also has a reset button , i walked into the tow shed and hit the reset and drove her home after paying his 35 dollar tow bill , his version of totaled was a cracked windshield and a cracked bumper , thats it, its got a 4banger in it but it runs really good and is a pretty clean little car with a good radio , heater and air consitioning , so i figure what the hay , itll make for a good car to go scrounge up chevy trucks and cars in and go on truck hunting missions without spending a fortune in gass , i know its a for@ but ive only got 35 bucks in it and it runs like a new for@ would be expected to , hehehe,, what the he!! ,, ill do it for a while ,, i did however give my best impersination of the dukes of hazard at my brothers house over a big snow drift in his drive way ,, the dixie horns were playin in my head ,, and e brake donuts are really awsome in a bean stuble field , especially when its covered in snow and you hit a dry spot hahahah

I have one of them too, but ad a couple zeros to what you paid. From what I have seen, there is only a few things I don't like about it as far as design...don't bother trying to do a tranny fluid and filter, the filter is not really accesable...just fluid only on that.
Once you get it on dry pavement, you'll find it should actually handle pretty good, just has no ass to it.

Cool, you can't pass that deal up, even for a #ord. Drive the balls off of it, then still sell it for a profit

Haha you should see the Pirate 4x4 anual ralley race. They buy a bunch of bombs and have a race that is more like demolition derby in single file. The cut and hack them to get hte weight down to make htem faster.

I'm looking for a MPG ride right now. I have two bomb Deisel Burbs I wouldn't mind so I could make some cross state line parts runs a little cheaper. If I can squeze 20mpg that's saving $120 a month on average. Figure $50 for insurance for my age and bare minimum.

My 88 454 Burb is killing me at 9.75 MPG. I do 44 miles round trip for work and then some errands in between. My wife has only driven it once. Her comment was "DAMN it's big and a pain in the butt to park".

My wife is a stay at home mom and her DD is a bomb 89 Accord we picked up because she was having trouble loading the baby in her last DD driver. Her last DD was a 79 K5 and between lack of doors and the fact that my wife is 5ft tall 90lb's it was a real pain to load a 2 year old kid. Now that the youngest can get in her own seat the Burb is not a big problem.

Starting monday we are going to swap for the week. I figure it will save $150 in cash a month as long as she doesn't cream anything in my Pristine burb.It will keep the miles down as well. It just rolled 82k and I put the last 10k on it in less then a year. She is going to see if she can deal with the tank and I'm going to see if I can deal with her little car.

I don't like her little car. For some reason it's just me wrong. I cannot get in and out of that thing easily. I feel like a circus clown durring the ingress/ egress portion. My Supra was no problem but this thing is a pain. Something about the door opening and B piller placement just makes it hard for me. My head is in pline with the B. So this also puts the belt in the worng locations. WHen I sit so the belt hits me right My head is about touching the ceiling and the back of the seat is straight up and down and big time uncomfortable.

I am shopping for a bomb because I don't think either of us will be happy. Let her keep her car and just park the Burb durring the week. Have my eye on a couple Preludes (door problem is not as bad). Both are loaded and the A/C is supose to work. One has a rebuilt engine and both are starting price of $1500 or less. I think I could save $200 a month with 30mpg.

I also found a CRX SI. I figure with easy driving I can get close to 40mpg. Now power windows and the Ad doesn't mention A/C but it doesn't really mention anything but 5 speed and sun roof. Doesn't even say Miles and county. I need to make sure it can smog. Got to call them today and see whn I can look at it. Asking is $1100 and with that I could save close to $300 a month in fuel. If it breaks down I can throw it in the back of the burb LOL.

Just need to decide if I can live a itty bitty DD.

You want a good mpg car? Get one like mine! Just about to turn a quarter million miles, and looks and runs great. Gets about 33 mpg city, and 38-40 highway STILL!! Sorry to hijack post, but I just had to show off my beater!

(BTW, it had about 235,000 miles on it in this picture!

hehehe

Company I use to work for had 7 of those Festivas for us to drive. Those are made by Kia. They would take a pounding. We beat the tee total hell out of them playing hwy tag and bumping each other at lights. Had a few places we would sky them. NEVER missed a beat. They were strong too! One guy go T boned in it and it knocked him accross the intersection. The car that hit him had to be towed and it didn't even break the side glass. Pushed the side in about 8 inches and jammed the door but it was still drivable.

I was sitting at a light in Buckhead on Peachtree and had a girl in a honda accord rear end me doing about 40. I saw it coming. I could see she was looking at the church on the left side of the road. Braced for impact cause I knew It was going to happen. She passed the last car in line in the left lane and knew she was screwed and was on the brakes about 10 feet before she hit me.

The front of her car nose dived and the bumper went under mine. It lifedt the rear wheels off the gorund and slammed me into the back of this VW bug in front of me. Middle of winter and my plastic tool box in the back shattered. Had sockets, wrenches and screw drivers wizing past my ears hitting the windsheild and dash. It was a HARD hit.

So I'm in a daze form this and the girl in the bug gets out and is screaming at me thinking it's my fault. I'm still shaking it off. THen she see's the honda with all the front end above the bumper raked back to the valve cover. I look bak in the mirron and my first thought was...."this car is done". I kncoked the VW int othe intersection. I guess when the girl hit my I let go of the brake and the girl in front of me probably did the same.

I looked in the Review at the honda and could not even see thw wincshield for the hood being buckled. Got out and I swear there was scrapes on the bumpers and the tail pipe was folded up but that was it!

Tough cars.

this Festiva doesnt have any gear other then 1st, found out middle of now where that the alt belt was missing. Had to push it about a mile, found a bar, called a friend. He got there, and the car started right up. Trying to get a few more cars together for video for the website. Should be fun.

Yea it needed a slave and hydraulic cylinder for the clutch and I replaced the clutch also. It has 176,000 doesnt smoke or use any oil and with that work I did I have a whopping 350 in it, counting the awesome 200 purchase price.
I know it aint a cool ride but it gets me to and from work and 28 MPG
