Angry '91 No start, no spark

Hello everyone,

I've got a bit of a problem. I have a '91 K2500 GMC with 5.7...I just finished putting in a new motor. Inital start up went fine, however the past two days I have experienced longer and longer starting times, which culminated today in a no start.

The longer starts were only when the engine is cold. Today after the truck had been sitting for about 3 hours I tried to start it...but it wouldn't fire up. I left the key on and opened the hood ( about ten seconds elapsed ) when I was under the hood I heard a buzzing/hissing noise and saw black goop and smoke coming from the bottom of the coil, it stopped quickly. Thinking that a coil going bad must have been the problem all along I purchased another and installed it...still no spark. Reasoning that the when the coil died it might have taken the NEW ignition module on the NEW dist. with I replaced that as well. No good.

Now what? Should I suspect that the ECM is not sending a signal to the module to send to the coil? Am I missing something?
HEEELLLLLLPPPPPPPP?
TIA,
Russ

Ok here's what i think is going on. you've got a short in you ignition and thats what melted your coil and made the buzzing noise. After replacing everything i think you have an ecm problem that is where the short is coming from. This short is screwing up your ignition. If thats not the problem good luck
