Odd options on my 4x4

I bought a 72 SWB 4x4 a couple of months ago and I just pick it up yesterday. I found a couple of odd options on it. One was a side mount tire option for the spare and the other is a two tone green on green.

I thought they were interesting and wanted to find out some more about it.

Here are some pics. There are more pictures in my link.

What kind of parts? I buy truck parts from the vendors on this board. I also buy, sell, and part the trucks to support my habit.

I have a parts truck with that color combo. The strangest factory combo I have seen was a '72, mariner blue with a hawaiian blue top. Any other crazy ones out there?

da-burb has a longhorn still painted that way from the factory. I believe it is still for sale.

I have a spare tire carrier just like that. The bottom rusted off so I unbolted it from the top and put it in my box of future projects. I actually had two spares when I bought the truck. One mounted on each side of the box. The other one that I still use looks like a home made job.

My option sticker does NOT list the side spare tire carrier. I assumed they were both home made.

00droptopSS- What a paint scheme!!!
Now I know why the Pipes' places are always bare on 67-72 parts.LOL

Would those side mount spare holders be worth anything? I've seen several in trucks I've parted and have a few laying around but I never figured they were worth more than $5 or so because I've seen so many. So I guess I'm asking

What would they be worth?

thanks,
Matthew

There are a couple of old retired guys around here and they do nothing besides hunt for 67-72 truck parts. I'm constantly trying to beat them to the good trucks, but it's hard to compete with retired guys. They keep the pick your parts places cleaned out around here.

I was planning on parting this 4x4, but I can't bring myself to do it.

I'm not real sure the side mount spare is worth anything. I've never really seen one for sale.

droptop- What a small world it is. I was looking at the pics of your restoration (nice by the way) and I realized that the fleetbed in the pics is the same bed that I sold to smonty a year or so ago. I wish I could restore one that fast, lol.

Wow.....i have never seen the side mounted spare carrier before. My truck has holes for one, and it is listed on the option sheet, as well as lots of other trucks i have seen, but they have all been long gone....
