New GM 383 Partial Engine

FYI - I was surfing around the GM Performance Parts website and discovered that GM is now selling new 383 short blocks. They have been selling the long blocks for several years now but I think the 383 availability as a short block is new this year (???). Anyways, looks interesting. Includes quite a bit of stuff. What a great starting point to build your own hot rod 383 engine. The only major items you will need to complete your engine are cam, lifters, cylinder heads, and manifold.

This 383 ci partial engine is used on all 383 crate engines.

The partial engine does not include camshaft, lifters, timing chain or cam sprocket. The oil pan is loosely assembled on the block. So it can be disassembled without destroying the pan gasket.

I talked to the manager at a GMPP counter, and he told me they were coming out with a zz383 soon!

Yep. I've heard about them but yet to see one in the flesh until today @ the Dallas Autorama. It's the 383 w/the HOT cam & the 'FastBurn' alum heads. No intake, flexplate, w.pump, or ignition..... & no price listed.

The AUtocenter in TX is already selling them that way (Fast Burn & Hot Cam). I think that they are probably taking the GMPP 383 crate motor and making the mods themselves. Here is the web site:
