Ring Gear
Looking at this ring gear does it look like it is sitting to low in bottom of the pumpkin or is that normal? There is no grinding noise that I can hear.

I will make sure that it does not get installed upside down. LOL btw its out of a 70 1/2 ton. The guy I bought it from said that it is 3/4 inch longer on each side. He also said that this happened in 70 only. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks

in the later part of 1970 chevy started puttign the wider rear ends in the trucks. if you wanted to put 5 lug axles in, they would fit without any problems! the wider rear end is in later 70s, 71 and 72

OK cool. If I ever want to do that then im set. My biggest concern at first is will it bolt up. From the measurements I have taken it looks like it will no prob.
