60' times at the track?

Hey, im thinking about putting a truck arm type suspension on my 83 C10 shortbed and was wondering what kind of 60' times you guys w/ these setups stock have ran at the track....street tires, slicks, whatever.

Few years ago with a flat top 350 and rv cam i was running 1.99 Or something close to that. havent had a chance to hook with the new setup Ill post up some times when the weather is dry and i go run it Should be very soon.

If your thinking of putting a 67-72 trailin arm setup you would be better off with a 2link or 4 link these trailing arms are LONG! thats the cause of some of the non hook problems

I can tell you with total certainty that trailing arms are not a problem, they are a blessing. I have had 1.25 60' times with them and have been able to get down tracks when competitors cars were smoking the tires. This was obviously with a different motor/trans combo than is listed in my sig. I would never take them off of my truck for racing. It's all about the spring rate, the pinion angle, etc.

thats the type of thing i was hoping to hear. by the way..since this is a custom install, does spring perch position have much effect on launching? Ive seen truck trailing arme setups w/ the lower spring perch on the trailing arm but have also seen the lower perches on the rear end.

I'm not to sure I understand the question. The perches have to be welded to the rear end to keep it from twisting.

im talking about the lower coil spring perch, not the trailing arm perch. I know that obviously has to be welded to the rear. Do you see what im asking?

I do see what you mean now. Sorry. I dont' think that spring placement really makes that much difference. It can make a difference in what spring rate is required due to the different leverage enacted on the spring based on it's placement. The shock location can definitely make a difference.

I have a mild small block and 12.5inch MT Sportsman pro tires so far my best 60' has been a 1.97. I like the trailing arms and I think they work well! I would just use a coilover shock instead of a coilspring! My truck weighs 4016 lbs with me in it!

hey tom, do you have any pics of your truck during its build up that you could email me? id be interested in seeing your front suspension setup and roll cage.

jon_volk- does that co. have a link, i would be interested in what the kit looks like and what is included in it. not saying i would buy it, but i am more then likly going to redo my rear suspension or buy a shorty frame and build up the rear suspension for that..
