I am considering buying a truck. How do I tell if the engine is a 454? It's in a 90 model crew cab 1 ton. THANKS

well if its a big block than i think the only big block availble in 90 was the 454.....

I agree. Its probably a 454 if it's not diesel. Find the RPO codes in the glove box (?) The codes can be found on websites. I think the address to one is www.mortec.com

If you are looking for an easy visual way, look at the exhaust manifolds. Each port will be seperate. On a 350, the two center ports are siamesed together. I'm sure you can tell by the sound and smell if it's a diesel
