Post fuel pressure regulator kit

Has anyone ever been inside the fuel pressure regulator that is in the throttle body? I have a '92 350; the mechanic that cleaned my injectors showed me that it has a little leak from the (red) gasket that seals the fuel pressure regulator. I can get a kit at NAPA to replace that gasket and others, but is it wise to get into it without prior knowledge? What exactly is in there?
