Gas Tank

I have a 69 c10 with a stock gas tank. I was given a stock 72 gas tank that has a vent or return hose on what would be the passanger side. Where does this hose go some one told me it ran up the passanger side piller as a vent. Anyone have any thoughs where it goes or does.

What about the smell in the cab. Could I just cap it off or does it help to have it.

69 gas tank had no emissions.
71,72 had evap emissions, charcoal canister.

i believe the line on the pass side is a vent but i am not sure.

My 70 has the pass side vent tube. If I remember right, the tube goes up close to the top of the cab then just runs back down into the tank again, am I right I believe it is just a big loop of hose something to do with evaporation. Fumes inside the cab in mine happen every once in awhile, and the smell is almost non-existant so I don't worry about it.
