Is this the scam we were warned about?

I have been advertising my 72 Custom Deluxe Suburban on a few sites besides this one and was contacted by an individual about sale. I sent him the pics and he has said he wants it. Here is a copy of his email reply afer he viewed pics. Notice his pigeon english:

Dear Chuck,
Thank you very much for your mail. I will love to buy
It from you so please I want you to remove it from
Further advert placement on the Internet. The price
$3500:00 is very much okay by me for it and as
Regards shipping of it, I have a shipping agent who
Normally takes care of all my shipping consignments,
So you don't need to worry yourself about that, I will
Take care of that myself.
Yes it is my creditor in the U.S that is actually
Going to be responsible for the payment. Which I have
Told him about this transaction and he told me that he
Will be sending the payment to you. Please the payment
Is going to be in a cashier check which will be a
Little bit higher than the cost of the Deluxe Please
After the cost of the Deluxe Can I trust you to
Refund my balance funds back to my shipping agent who
Will be coming for the pick up of the Deluxe Do let
Me know this cos it is very important please if this
Is okay by you, Do send to me your full name and
Address so that the payment can be made out to you
Next week. Also include your phone number so that I
Can give you a call to discuss in detail. Also do keep
Every paper of it set and intact for the shipping
Agent who will be coming for the pick up.
Have a nice day and thanks once more again for your
Response, to my mail.
Best regards,
Mark

I think this is the same scam that someone on here got taken on right. Here is my responce to him. He is yet to reply.

Mark, When would you want to pickup the truck? I will accept a money order,
but be advised the truck will stay here until it clears and the cash is in
my hand. This is the only way I will release the truck to the shipper. If
this is ok, let me know and will send you my address to ship the check to.
Chuck

I will see if he responds and post his answer. Just wanted everyone to see this so you will be aware of it.

I had the same type of emails when I sold my tractor on the Net last year. Just ignored them and sold to someone locally.

I got the same stuff when I sold my 68 Impala. I basically told him the same thing as you did and never heard back from him. I wonder how many people fall for that crap.

If I receive one of those I would contact the FBI first then help them try to nab this guy. I have a feeling these scammers already have a way out of this, tho. I am sure his agent isn't going to pick-up the excess funds in person but send it to an address, probably oversees. If this is the case I'll probably waste this guys time by making him beleive I am falling for this scam and pretend I need more time to put funds in my bank, then say I have a local buyer, then say he changed his mind, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc. I would ask for a SASE to send the check, say it must have gotten lost in the mail the first time and eventually after several weeks send a fake check printed from my printer with a picture of an Ass. .

Hello,
Thank you very much for your mail.
Sure it's okay by me.
Mark

I to believe this is a scam, as I had simular emails when I sold my 58 Belair. It sold before I could persue these inquireys. Anyway I would love to beat this guy at his own game. As greenhornmail suggested try to get an address. Who would I contact to help with this does anyone know for sure. Thanks, Chuck

This came from another board:

"for governmental assistance, you can contact your local secret service field office, or call the FTC toll-free at 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357) or use the complaint form at www.ftc.gov or call the Canadian PhoneBusters hotline toll-free at 1-888-495-8501.
Other resources include www.ustreas.gov/usss/ (secret service) and www.fbi.gov (fbi) "

Good luck!

This is a total scam

I don't know how many of you listen to Clark Howard, but he get's calls all the time about people getting these offers and says that the fake money orders are so good that the bank that appears on the money order will even mistake it for their own pay the funds and then catch the mistake sometimes 10 weeks later and you guessed it come back to your bank and take the money back. Trying to make sure it clears is not good enough because they are tricking the bank.

Best pass with the street 406 hydraulic roller motor w/ mild plate tuneup
