Driveshaft
I was wondering if anyone would know or has done this. Is it possible to convert the two piece driveshaft to a one piece? I have a 72 2 wheel drive long box. Thanks in advance.

Yes,thank you. That is exactly why I would like to convert to a one piece. Thinking about swapping to a much healthier motor and didn't want to change the hanger bearing everytime I decided to use it.

You can run 12's on a stock 2 pc set up. If your C-bearing is going out often, then there is something else wrong.

bad 71 chevy: do you have any pics of your crossmember?
i am hoping to run low 12's maybe 11's when truck is done... or even faster if i can.... but NHRA might not allow the 2 piece shaft for running that quick... it doesnt specify in the rule book so i have to call the local guy for me Thanks Rat

I use to blow out carrier bearing all the time until I did my last install a differant way. I hung the carrier to the frame, left it loose to move, and did the rear u-joint first, then I tightened down the carrier. Seems that I was pulling the bearing back when I did the u-joint last and that would wear out the bearing donut.
