Replacement Door: Do I need pwr windows?

If my truck has power windows and locks, do I need to get a replacement door with the power windows and locks, or can I make it work?

If so, how hard is it to convert? Should I just get a skin?

There is no difference in door shells for manual vs. power. The regulator/track is different. You'll need to get a power window motor & regulator, wiring harness, switches for each door if you want to convert. You might as well go with power door locks which will require the motor actuator, switch, harness and relay. That is what I am doing, when I get to that part of my restoration. You might also get new door panels which have the cut outs for the switches, or cut them in your old ones.

I currently have power windows and locks that work fine. My door panels are ok as well.

The problem is the sheetmetal is so dented and beat that it simply would be easier to get another door or skin.

I think a skin might be easiest, but I am not sure.

I have all of the power parts necessary to put on a "manual window" door, if the do in fact fit.

I would think putting new skins would be the simplest than having a bodyman pound out the dents and refinishing it timewise. Or simply buy a new door shell(s) and move the components from the old door to the new..

I was wondering that same thing. I actually picked up a perfect power door this weekend for about $50 but I dont want to put it on til I'm ready for paint.

Is reskinning cheaper than having the entire door repainted? I just put new motors in the old door too
