Body mounts,ball joints,axle joints
1.)How hard are body mounts change?Should I get rubber or urethane?
2.)My balljoints are bad, should I do it myself or have a shop do it? And who makes the best? 3.)My axle joints are getting a little worn and while I change my ball joints Id like to change them too. Are they expensive or hard to change? Thanks in advance!

1. The cab mounts are super easy. All you need is a jack and a couple of blocks of wood. Just do one side at a time to keep from causing some misalignment when you take the weight off the mounts with the jack. I haven't done the ones under the rad support but they look to be quite a bit of work. I bought energy suspension urethane mounts and it was cheaper than buying regular rubber ones from GM. Overall I'm very pleased.
2. Ball joints on a 4x4 are a bit of work and require a few special tools but I'm sure you could pay for the tools with what you'd pay for the labour to get the job done. Other than that, just make sure you get all of the seals and stuff before you start. Moog or TRW both make guaranteed for life parts and I have never had trouble with either. I say do it yourself and get the satisfaction of doing the job yourself. 3. You might as well change the axle joints while you have everything apart. They are the same as changing u-joints and no more expensive. Hope this info helps you out. |
