Towing Gas Mileage

I just got back from making a 30 hour round trip to San Francisco to pick up a car. I got to see gas prices jump 10-15 cents at gas stations I had filled up at 12 hours earlier. All this for no apparent reasons, except greed on the oil companies part.

Well anyway. Towing about 5000 lbs with my little burb I was averaging about 15 mpg on flat ground and down to about 11 in the mountains. I actually was real happy. I kept it below 65 and I think that helped a lot.

Must be the greedy oil company making you drive 30 hrs in a gas guzzler! What do you know about what THEY paid for the oil ?
I don't want to turn this into a Flame, but If you don't like the price don't drive! "WAAA WAAA WAAA someone protect me from a price hike"

Just for the record,I want to get this right-

You drove 30 hours round trip.
On the way home the price of Gas went up
So that's 15 hours of expensive gas
By your numbers I'll say an average of 12 mpg
That translates to 5 gallons per hour
15 hours X 5 Gallons = 75 X $ .15 = $11.25

So at most your out $11.25 on a 30 hr trip.

I'll bet you skimped tipping a waitress to make up the difference !
