Differential Gears... I need some!

Hello fellahs...

i'm putting a posi rear in my truck and i need some gears... i have a set of 4.88's that came in the posi unit, but i want to go with a 4.11 or 3.73 ... any opinions out there?? also, does anyone have a set of gears to sell?


(want to buy a good set of 4.88's?)

its a GM 10 bolt rear... 8.5", i believe or 8.2"... haven't removed the ring and pinion quite yet.

Should be atleast a 8.5" 10 bolt. The 8.2" was mostly used in passenger cars.

If you are going to be running your th350 trans, then I would go with the 3.73 over 4.10 any day.

I had 4.10's and a th350...long highway trips were limited to 55-60 MPH...the rpm's were above 3000...and that was with a TALL tire!

Now if you decide to go with an overdrive or gear vendors unit..then 4.10/4.11 is the way to go.

One more thing, didn't your 75 come with a 12 bolt? 10 bolts weren't offered in the trucks until 80 or 81 I thought.
