lmctruck versus jcwhitney leaf springs

lmctruck.com has 'factory' leaf spring replacements for my '89 suburban 2wd that are 5-leaf like oem for $139

jwhitney has 8 or 9 leaf for $99 or $115 respectively.

what do you think the pros and cons of each are? i don't care about the price difference.

I'm going to go ahead and use blocks and the new leaf springs.

Thanks.

JC Whitney has ALWAYS struck me as an outfit for getting really cheap stuff. They've only reinforced that impression lately.

I'd get the LMC Truck for that reason, and because it would be supporting a vendor who specializes in our trucks.

I don't know anything about LMC, but I'll second the opinion about JCW.

If you order from LMC, be absolutely sure what you need. They have no tech support to help you, so you are on your own. Also, be prepared to ship them back when they get there and are wrong. Been there, done that. It's not a pleasant experience to ship leaf springs.

Unless they have changed the way they list them, they don't tell you if they are 52" or 56". This was where I got screwed. I ordered what I thought was right, but when I got them, they were 52" springs and mine are 56". I could have used them and moved the rear hanger up 4", but I wanted to keep the 56" springs.

I would talk to the folks at http://www.espo.com/ if I were you. They actually know what you need.

I know LMC is a good source for our trucks, but you may want to check with Eibach Spring. They are in my opinion the best quality and are usually very helpful. They can also suggest a spring for towing, performance, ride quality, etc.

well, if you are going to use lowering blocks, you don't need alot of leafs. you need 3-4 leafs only. you could go monoleaf and use blocks too, that is an option. I have ordered springs from JC in the past, never a problem. Returning/exchanging thru them is also easy. LMC has been good so far, but I have heard many stories of return/exchange hassles. Have you tried any other stores? Good luck!

Can't use lowering blocks on a a 89 because the axle is under the leafs. It would be raising blocks if you did.

Ah, I see. He did not specify in his post. In that case, he might opt for the 8/9count leaf, would be more heavy duty for off-road and heavy load capacity.

C'mon people!! Neither JCW or LMC make springs! They buy them from a wholesaler/manufaturer for Pete's sake!

nobody said they made them...only that they offer them. i could say that summit offers a 33" mud tire for $156.00, and then say Jegs has a 31" mud tire for $125.. and ask which one would be better... i however never said they made them.
