700r4 swap (help)
I have decided to swap out my th350 with a 700r. I have a 72 3/4 ton 4x4 th350 396. I have done a lot of research and what I have found is no one makes an adapter for my 205 to make it bolt up to a 700r4 I would need to use my current adapter. I have been told that I need to move my 205 back 1 7/8 ". Has anybody done this? I could really use some advice. Are there any other options besides moving the 205 t-case back.
Thanks Steve

It is a common swap. Try Advanced Adapters.

You need to exchange the mainshaft in the TH700 with the one that Advace Adapters offers for this. You then use your TH350/Np205 adapter. You will need to slide the trans back or the engine forward. I chose to move the engine forward to give me more room for my HEI. Try doing a search. This topic has been covered a bunch.

Thanks for your reply. I have been doing searches and have not found any on this aplication which seems odd. Most people say this is real common but I have yet to find a article with this swap.
I have search google yayoo and typed in all sorts of titles. thanks again

Ask the question on the message boards at ColoradoK5.com. I know there are several guys on that board that have made the swap. CK5 has an article on swapping out a TH350 for an SM465 but I don't see on on the TH350/700r4 swap.

Advances Adapters makes an output shaft that replaces the current one in the 700R4, the tailshaft is removed and the trans has to be completely disassembled to install it, then it mates up directly to the 350/205 adapter. the 700 is 1 7/8 longer than the 350 so the motor can be moved forward(preferred) or transfer moved back, which means changing lengths of the front and rear drive shafts.
