Ive thought about this too.... i know they make the poly tank kits to install in the spare tire opening under the bed, BUT I know that the general used to make a 31 gallon in blazers/jimmys and a 40 gallon for the burbs.... made me think i may be able to do something with one of those... dunno, but something to keep in mind, and even at 10 mpg youd still get a minimum of bout 280-300 miles b4 youd stop for petrol... just an idea...

Look around for some of the saddle tanks that guys are taking off. A good size rear tank, and the saddle tanks, and you should have some pretty good mileage range.

Face it, your still young. If you was one of us old farts you would be making a "Pit Stop" before you needed gas even with the stock tank.

Running on empty
I just ordered a 21 gallon metal "Blazer" version from Chevy Duty... cost me a couple hundred bucks. I can't wait to get the tank out of the cab, also, the extra fuel will be great. I have a BB in my truck so it does get a bit thirsty.
There are a couple of version of this type of implementation, 1) The OEM replacement metal tank 2) A thick polymer version that is about the same size. Each run about the same in expense, I suppose it is a matter of choice. Good luck.
