Question intake manifold?

The gentleman at the machine shop put it in solvent and cleaned it but when I picked it up it had built up some rust on it.I guess he didn't dry it off very good and I was wondering if I should have it sandblasted or is it a bad Idea?Thank you

Sand blasting is a bad idea because you could get the sand inside the manifold... Or you may not get all of it blown out of it and your engine could eat it later. I've heard it is best to have them caustic(sp?) cleaned.

I guess it would be better if I asked is the rust on the outside, or on the inside? If on the outside and you plugged the holes well, I can't see why you couldn't sandblast it...

The rust is just from moisture in the air. When bare cast iron is exposed, it rusts very easily.

Dont sand plast it, have it bead blasted. I did my Intake for about $15 at a machine shop. Came out great. They even chased all the threaded holes.

Ive got several intakes bead blasted cast iron and alum, Just take it to the car wash afterwards and clean it out really good then get it sprayed down with carb cleaner and paint. Unless its alum then make it shine.
