How do I reconnect the Speedometer Cable

I pulled out the speedometer cable, lubed it, and then slid it back in place.

Now, will the square end at the tranny slide back into place if I turn it while pushing on it, or do I have to get under the truck and do it?

Thanks.

I just pushed it in, both times... I do believe that it twists into place right away
