LS1 gas tank options

I am going to do a 5.3L LS1 swap next month and would like to find the best option for my gas tank. I want to put in under the bed and preferably have the fuel pump in the tank. I would like to know that what some others on the board have done with their fuel injection. Also for the ones that have a 4l60e transmission, what type of shifters are you using (pictures greatly appreciated)

Thanks
Jerr

Also I will take picts of the swap and post them if there is any interest.

What I am doing is going with a tank out of an 89 Impala. It had tbi fuel injection with the pump in the tank. I will be welding 3 inch space bars under the frame. I will then cut out a hole behind where the tag will go. Don't forget the folddown tag hinge. The gas tank neck will be shortened and fitted to be right behind the tag by using a piece of rubber hose .BTW I am using a tbi system out of an 89 van.

Later model Blazer tank will work, though a higher pressure pump will be needed as TBI is only around 15psi I believe. I think 89-93? Mine is from a 90.
The stock linkage will work for the four speed, a little clearancing needs to be done to get it all the way into first. The guy I got my rebuilt tilt column from at the Pomona swap meet gave me a re-lettered indicator lens with the column. The lettering is a little big so I plan on redoing it with a bit of scanning, image manipulation and printing on decal media.

As far as the tank goes, contact board member fuellcellguy. He can hook you up with what you need.

I think I'm going to stay with the in cab tank and put a inline external pump in the frame rail. Your pump needs close to 60psi for the LS1. I don't want to give up my spare tire mount. You'll lose it if you go with the under bed tank.

I'm also going to opt for the frame mounted pump. A tank mounted pump would be great, so we could reuse our lines, but it seems like its too much of a hassle to get one in there.

yesterday i saw a 68 FORD shortbed fleetside with a 5.3L VORTEC!! and 4L60e!!! he was using his factory fuel tank with an external pump, although he did have a tank from an 01 truck in the bed that he was going to throw on.
