Changed my tranny mount

I've just changed my tranny mount today for a nice shiny new energy suspension poly one, when I took the old one off it was nearly in two pieces with a huge crack running through the middle of the rubber. I also found that the crossmember was only held in with two mismatched bolts, one on each side and didn't look to be at a right angle with the frame rails.

When I put the new mount in two holes lined up on one side, on the other side one lined up partially and one was completely absent. I filed out the one hole slightly, and drilled a new hole for the other and bolted the whole thing down with matching new bolts. I put a square across and the crossmember seems to line up square now.

Is it normal for some holes to be missing (the truck left the factory with a straight six and goodness knows what tranny, there were about three or four holes in the frame each side) It would explain why the previous owner had kind of bolted it in a little skewed and did I do the right thing?

I haven't been able to take it out for a drive yet as my drive is still covered in snow and I struggle to get up it when it's like that (open diff)
